Star of Bethlehem -ornithogalum umbellatum is an underrated Wildflower that is very easy and quick to establish in a spring flowering meadow. The star shaped flowers are a brilliant white and appear in April and May, opening only in full sunshine. Star of Bethlehem bulbs will establish best on well-drained, fertile soils and it is possible to introduce and establish bulbs in rough grasslands or lawns.
Star of Bethlehem look best growing alongside other spring flowering meadow plants such as Cowslips, Meadow Buttercup, Common Sorrel and Birdsfoot trefoil.
