Perfect for pollinators

Bulbous Buttercup -ranunculus bulbosus– is very similar to Meadow Buttercup but can be used in grassland on slightly drier soils. It’s flowering time is also a little earlier so when planted together, both these species will give a longer buttercup flowering season. Bulbous Buttercups are very attractive to bees drawn by the rich pollen and bright colour. This is a low growing species with intense yellow flowers that appear from March to June and makes a great addition to a mini meadow or flowering lawn. Bulbous Buttercup looks best growing alongside other low growing meadow plants such as Lawn daisy, Self heal, Forget-me-nots, Birdsfoot trefoil, and Cowslips.

How to grow Bulbous Buttercup Seeds
Bulbous Buttercup seeds should be sown in spring or autumn, either outside, where they are to flower, or in seed trays and covered lightly with compost.. Bulbous Buttercup seeds are usually easy to germinate and the seedlings, which are quick to develop, can be pricked out and grown on, for planting out later in the year into grassland or lawns.

RHS Perfect for Pollinators.
The RHS Perfect for Pollinators mark is only given to plants that support pollinating insects in gardens. Bees, butterflies, moths, hoverflies and many others visit flowers to feed on nectar and pollen; while doing so they transfer pollen and increase seed set
and fruit development. Find out more at: rhs.org.uk/plants
