Red Dead-Nettle- lamium purpureum– in the garden Red Dead Nettle is best grown along the edge of a hedge, or in any other situation where it can be allowed to spread and where there is plenty of sunlight. Plants have a very long flowering season with pink flowers that can appear anytime from March to October. Because of the prolonged flowering, Red Dead Nettle is very useful for Bees and can sustain them early and late in the year when many other plants have finished flowering and nectar and pollen sources are scarce. Plants also provide useful ground cover and look nice growing alongside other wildflowers such as Red Campion, Wild Strawberry, and Common Dog Violets.

How to grow Red Dead-Nettle Seeds
Red Dead-Nettle seeds should be sown in spring or autumn outside, where they are to flower, and covered lightly with soil. Germinating seeds is often easy but can occasionally be take longer as the seeds wait until conditions are right. Ideally choose a site with reasonably fertile soil where plants can be allowed to spread. Plants can be encouraged to self seed by disturbing the soil annually in the autumn.
