Enchanter’s Nightshade– Circaea lutetiana has delicate pink flowers carried on long leafless spikes. It is one of a very small number of wildflowers that will grow well on dry, poor soils where there is very little light. As such Enchanter’s Nightshade plants can be used to brighten up garden areas otherwise dull and unattractive. It can also provide useful ground cover. Enchanter’s Nightshade can be grown alongside other shade loving plants such as Red Campion, Welsh Poppy and Greater Stitchwort.

How to grow Enchanter’s Nightshade Seeds
Enchanter’s Nightshade seeds are best sown in the autumn directly where they are to flower but can also be sown in compost trays in the spring. The seedlings can then be pricked out and grown on, for planting out later in the year. Once established Enchanter’s Nightshade can spread quite readily given the right conditions.
