Sheep’s Sorrel -rumex acetosella – grows on dry grassland, heaths and open ground. In the wild, Sheep’s Sorrel attracts the Small Copper as a breeding butterfly that will lay its eggs on the plant. It is similar to Common Sorrel but slightly smaller and produces reddish flowers from May to August. Sheep’s Sorrel looks best growing with wildflowers such as Oxeye daisies, Field Scabious, Betony, Sneezewort and Tufted vetch.

How to grow Sheep’s Sorrel Seeds
Sheep’s Sorrel seeds should be sown in spring or autumn, either outside, where they are to flower, or in seed trays and covered lightly with compost. The seedlings can be pricked out and grown on, for planting out later in the year.
